Gaon Music Chart reveals their 2019 Yearly Digital Chart


Gaon Music Chart, known for being one of the biggest charts compiling digital results and album sales in Korea, has just updated their yearly Digital Chart for 2019!

Gaon’s Digital Chart is based on online streaming, downloads, and background music sales from various music sites. The rates of each of those is weighted and added together for the final Gaon Index score.

The chart is not limited to songs released in 2019, so you may see some older songs on the list!

Which singers and songs were the most popular in Korea for 2019?

It may surprise you that the number 1 spot was taken by English singer and songwriter, Anne-Marie with her song “2002”! Her song was so popular in Korea that she was invited to the VLIVE V HEARTBEAT awards, where she put on an amazing performance.

Number 2 was Lim Jaehyun‘s “If there was practice in love (Prod. 2soo)”, released in September 2018.

“Every day, Every Moment” by Paul Kim from the soundtrack of “Should We Kiss First” took number 3. The drama broadcast from February 20 to April 24 with a total of 40 episodes.

Kassy‘s song “The day was beautiful” made number 4 on the list. Released on December 31, 2018, it went on to receive lots of love from Korean netizens through the following year!

The first idol group in the top 10, it’s no surprise BTS ranked high with their international hit “Boy With Luv (Featuring Halsey)”! The title track off of their highest selling album ever, it continues to receive a lot of love from fans and non-fans alike.

M.C The Max‘s long awaited comeback album stayed high in the charts all year long, especially their title track “After You’ve Gone”, which hit number 6 on the yearly chart.

Paul Kim got a second song into the top 10 songs of the year, with “Me After You” making number 7 on the Gaon Digital Chart.

Chungha made a huge impact in Korea with her hit song “Gotta Go”, released early in 2019. 2019 became a year where Chungha truly made her name as a powerful solo artist.

“Four Seasons” by Taeyeon is next on the chart! Released as a single on March 24, 2019, it was played all across Korea through all four seasons of the year.

Rounding out the top ten is Jannabi‘s hit “for lovers who hesitate”, also released in March. 2019 marked their first year winning year end awards despite having debuted in 2014.
